synopsis

LOST & FOUND IN KUMBH is a heartfelt adventure-comedy set amidst the mystical chaos of the Kumbh Mela. When Maddy’s blended family collides under one roof, innocent Luke (8 years) and rebellious teenager Rags (13 years)—half-brothers-- meet in Prayagraj for the first time. Soon after, the family are unexpectedly separated by a swell of people at the Mahakumbh.

Lost, scared, and utterly unprepared, Luke and Rags must navigate the dizzying crowd on their own. As they journey through vibrant street performances, shady thieves, generous strangers, and close calls with bandits, their shared fears give way to an unexpected bond.

Meanwhile, Maddy and the two fiery mothers—Cherry and Sherry—launch a desperate, often hilarious search with the help of the perpetually stressed cop - SHO Dhariwal. Their search spirals into emotional chaos, riddled with guilt, blame, and the terrifying realization that they might lose their children forever!

The boys, growing wiser and braver by the hour, find friendship in unlikely places, from a philosophical Aghori to a former lost boy turned shoe thief. When they’re finally captured by two kidnappers, it takes courage, cleverness, and a little divine intervention to escape.

Lost & Found in Kumbh is a magical, emotional, and laugh-out-loud journey of family, identity, and the strange and beautiful ways we find our way back to each other.

news

Mulberry Films and Fabled Frames proudly announce the completion of principal photography on LOST & FOUND IN KUMBH, a heartfelt family dramedy and the directorial debut of Mayur Puri (Om Shanti Om), acclaimed writer and hit song-maker with hundreds of songs to his credit, some approaching a billion views online. The story, based on an original screenplay by Puri, transpires over a magical and emotional 24-hour journey through the vibrant and exotic world of the Maha Kumbh, a once-in-144-years event.

Set against the backdrop of the world’s largest gathering — with over 660 million attendees this year — LOST & FOUND IN KUMBH follows the touching adventure of two half-brothers, 8-year-old Luke and 13-year-old Rags, who become separated from their parents amid the spiritual frenzy of the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.

“Mayur’s vision was so clear and enticing and visually rich, we knew we had to make this happen, even with the challenges we faced. We chose to shoot the film entirely on location in Prayagraj to remain true to the region’s culture, textures, colors and, most importantly, its soul. Authenticity was paramount.” said producer Cristy Coors Beasley.

The dramatic comedy is anchored by India’s hottest rising star Rahul Bhat (Black Warrant, Kennedy, Ugly) alongside award-winning actress Rajshri Deshpande (Trial by Fire, Sacred Games, Angry Indian Goddesses) opposite an international cast including British actress Katie Amess (Bull, Criminal Minds) and two remarkable young actors in leading roles: Jordy Cass (Frasier, S.W.A.T., American Warrior) from the U.S. and India’s own Abhisar Puri (Are You Listening?). Rounding out the cast is revered Indian actor Vikram Kapadia in the role of Head SHO, who brings wit and heart to the role. Bringing the mystical spirit of Kumbh to life is celebrated cinematographer Chirantan Das, whose lens captures the grandeur, intimacy, and magic realism embedded in Indian culture.

This marks the third collaboration of producing trio Rashaana Shah, Cristy Coors Beasley, and Namrata Sharma. “I’m incredibly proud of our gang of women producers — including Aaradhika Chopra and Ulka Puri — and our lean 24-person crew, who not only embraced the massive responsibility of recreating the Maha Kumbh but completed production in just 17 days,” shared Rashaana Shah.

Namrata Sharma added, “Gaining access to several key locations would not have been possible without the invaluable support of UP ADGP Dr. G.K.Goswami (IPS), CP Tarun Gauba (IPS), DCP Abhishek Bharti (IPS), and the Mela Chief Vijay Kiran Anand, all of whom believe in showcasing Kumbh to the world audience.”

Iris Indie Global, led by President of Distribution Milena Rimassa, is handling worldwide sales for Lost & Found in Kumbh and will offer an exclusive sneak peek of the newly wrapped feature at its Cannes offices located at 18 Quai Saint-Pierre. Known for its curated, award-winning slate, Iris Indie will also represent The Collaborator, a coming-of-age drama directed by Travis Hodgkins set in Kashmir, and based on the acclaimed novel by Mirza Waheed, screening at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, May 17 at 13:30 – Arcades 3.  The producers’  previous projects also includes American Warrior, an ensemble sports drama featuring Danny Trejo, Veronica Falcón, Taylor Treadwell, and Omi Vaidya, picked up by Quiver for an early Fall release.
